Our Recent International Awards & Honours Summary May 2001

During 1997 - 99, Goldi Productions Ltd. won 88 international television broadcast awards and honours, in competition with leading production companies and television broadcasters from around the world.
These awards include 13 First/GOLDS, 16 Second/SILVERS, 31 Third/Bronzes, 14 FINALISTS, 4 AWARDS OF MERIT, and 10 SELECTIONS FOR SHOW, in a wide variety of categories, including: documentary, nature & wildlife, history, science, research & technology, ethnic & cultural, oceanography, environment & ecology, television sports, travel documentary, geography & transportation, leisure & recreation, underwater & marine sciences, and conservation and energy. |
| We are pleased that distinguished international jurors have honoured us by giving 80 of those awards to 17 different episodes, or 66% of the programs in our all-Canadian documentary series "OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CANADA" OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CANADA" - a show that tells stories of the Canadian experience in the outdoors and featuring our unique style of documentaries - at the following international film and television documentary program competitions: |

Sure we're pleased we've just won a "Bronze World Medal" at the prestigious New York Film & Television Festival, for "In Search of the Colossal Fossil", in the heavily contested Science and Technology category, which included other competitors from A&E, BBC, The History Channel, PBS, The Discovery Channel, NFB, & from German, French, American, and Australian Television. |

| We had earlier won THREE FINALIST NOMINATIONS at the NY Festival. One of them was for "What an Ice Canoe!", one of two shows we did on the Québec Winter Carnival. (It was a Finalist in the same category as the mega budget "Hitman Hart") Radio-Québec (Québec's counterpart to TVO) recently called about the other show we did, "The Magic of Winter", to say: ***** We are pleased that "The Magic of Winter" has also just won a Bronze Plaque at Houston. |

At the 1998 CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION FESTIVAL
John Goldi csc, has been awarded the SILVER PLAQUE for SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT IN CINEMATOGRAPHY for his work in "Go Fly a Kite". Fellow Cinematography Medal Winners were "The Dragons of Galapagos" from ABC Television's Natural History Unit, and "A Footprint on Everest". John Goldi shot his images at Kortright, Ontario, and Verdun, Quebec.

At the 1998 41st NEW YORK FESTIVALS TELEVISION PROGRAMMING AWARDS
We have just received a congratulatory phone call from Gerald Goldberg, President of New York Festivals, notifying us that we have won a "Bronze World Medal" at this prestigious festival for "In Search of the Colossal Fossil" in the extremely heavily contested Science & Technology category.
Goldi Productions also won 3 Finalist Nominations, 1 more than last year, when Outdoor Adventure Canada was the only independently-produced Canadian television series to win double Finalists. (Out of the 33 Canadian producers and broadcasters who had won Finalist Nominations.) (Dec/98)
We are honoured that, in this year's competition, Joan Goldi has been selected to receive more awards than any other Canadian producer.

At the 1998 32nd WORLDFEST HOUSTON (FLAGSTAFF) INTERNATIONAL FILM AND VIDEO FESTIVAL, at Houston, TX, and announced at Flagstaff, AZ on Nov. 21,
Goldi Productions, has won 4 Gold, 3 Silver, 3 Bronze and 1 Finalist for 11 programs. We are honoured to have been awarded more medals than any other producer at the festival. (l. (Nov/98)

"GOLDI PRODUCTIONS SECOND - TWICE!!!
TO
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC TELEVISION SPECIALS"
Joan Goldi won more awards than any other producer at the festival, earning two 2nd Place/Bronze Awards (both "second" in categories won by National Geographic Television specials), and eight 3rd Place/Honourable Mentions, winning honours for all 10 shows she submitted.
Out of the more than 180 participating producers from Canada, only 6 won double medals (1st & 2nd Place), 3 from the CBC, 2 from the NFB, and 1, Joan Goldi from the private sector. (Oct/98)

"GOLDI PRODUCTIONS WINS HONOURS
AS TOP EXHIBITOR"
at Inaugural Wild Life Film Festival
At the 1st annual CARNEGIE WILD LIFE FILM FESTIVAL, founded by the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, in Pittsburgh, PA, to showcase "the best outdoor films of 1998" and "the winning films and other notable entries" from the 1998 North American Outdoor Film and Video Awards, 23 programs from 15 producers were selected for screening (Canadian invitees included the NFB, CBC, and Great Canadian Parks), before audiences at the Carnegie Museum of Art Theatre and the Carnegie Museum Lecture Hall, Oct. 1, 2, & 3, 1998.
Goldi Productions was honoured with having more programs "Selected for Show" than any other producer. Four of our programs (including three from Outdoor Adventure Canada) were chosen by the Film Committee from the Carnegie Museum. (Sept/98)

"JOAN GOLDI, WINS UNIQUE EXHIBITOR HONOURS"
at
Prestigious International Science Documentary Festival
At the 9th FESTIVAL TÉLÉSCIENCE, in Montréal, PQ, presented by Radio-Canada Television, and billed as "one of the largest scientific documentary festivals in the world" which is "primarily a competition to determine the best recent scientific documentaries" from among 175 entries from over 17 countries,
Goldi Productions received two "Selections for Show" for two different science documentaries, out of only 5 English language programs selected from Canada, a group which included two Gemini Nominees, the Gemini Winner, and shows from CBC "Witness" and "The Nature of Things", and The Discovery Channel USA.
Joan Goldi was the only English language producer (out of 27 world-wide) to receive two "Selections for Show".
One of our programs is one of the remaining few of the original 175 entries that has also received the highly coveted "Finalist Nomination", for a possible Medal. (Aug/98)

At the 34th INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS FILM AND VIDEO COMPETITION (INTERCOM), operated by the Chicago International Film Festival, in Chicago, IL, whose aim is to "celebrate excellence in the art of communication, and to honour the most original, technically superior and visionary independent film and video productions from around the world" and which attracted competitors from 23 countries,
Goldi Productions was awarded more Gold & Silver Plaques (1 Gold & 3 Silver) than any other production company from any other country. Our total awards (6 for 6 different shows) were double those of the nearest competitor. (July/98)

at Chicago International Television Festival
At the 31st US INTERNATIONAL FILM AND VIDEO FESTIVAL, in Chicago, IL, billed as "the world's leading competition for business, television, industrial & informational productions", there were over 1600 entries from 28 countries. 14 Canadian producers received 19 Gold & Silver Plaques.
Goldi Productions was the leading Canadian production company, being honoured with the highest number of Plaques: three (1 GOLD and 2 SILVER), among 10 awards it won for 8 different shows.

"GOLDI PRODUCTIONS Takes BOTH GOLD & SILVER"
in
"ASTONISHING ACHIEVEMENT"
At the 40th NORTH AMERICAN OUTDOOR WRITER'S FILM/VIDEO FESTIVAL, in Chicago, IL, billed in the United States as "the nation's most prestigious outdoor film/video competition", and held annually by the 2,000 member Outdoor Writers Association of America, Inc., Canadian participants included the NFB, Great Canadian Parks, KEG Productions, and the CBC which sent 7 entries.
Goldi Productions won more awards (three*) than any other participant in the festival, including, both the 4 STAR First Place Plaque and 3 STAR Second Place Plaque, for two different shows, the first time, astonished organizers informed us, that a producer has achieved this feat in the 40 year history of the festival. (*Including a Special Award of Merit for Videography.) (May/98)

At the 31st WORLDFEST HOUSTON (TEXAS) INTERNATIONAL FILM AND VIDEO FESTIVAL, billed as "the world's largest film & video competition, with more than 4500 entries," 38 Canadian broadcasters and production companies won awards in 1998.
Goldi Productions, which won 6 awards (2 Silver, 2 Bronze, 2 Finalists) for 6 different shows, was honoured with more medals for documentaries than any other Canadian producer. (Apr/98)

"Goldi Productions Scores "Double Bronze" Coup AGAIN"
at Top US International Educational Festival
At the 28th NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL MEDIA NETWORK AWARDS in Oakland, CA, billed as the "largest educational media competition in the world" and "the largest and oldest competition for nontheatrical film and television, and educational media in the United States", over 1000 competitors took part in 1998, including PBS's Ken Burns (Silver), A&E's Bill Kurtis (Silver), The History Channel's Charlie Maday (Silver), and the CBC's Mark Starowicz (Bronze). Only a very few won double awards, including Bill Kurtis, Charlie Maday, and Joan Goldi.
It is the second year in a row that Joan Goldi has won two Apple Awards of Excellence . (Apr/98)

"Goldi Productions Places Two Finalists - CBC Witness One"
in Prestigious Competition Category
At the 40th NEW YORK FESTIVALS TELEVISION PROGRAMMING AWARDS, over 2300 entries from 39 countries were in competition. 33 Canadian broadcasters and production companies received Finalist Nominations.
"OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CANADA" was the only independently-produced Canadian television series to be awarded two Finalist Nominations, for two different programs, an international recognition of Canadian program excellence only matched by CBC's flagship documentary series, Witness. (Jan/98)
We are proud that shows made for a cable channel series, and entirely shot and produced in Canada, have won such an unprecedented number of medals for quality in international competition with the best television programs from around the world.
